This is a great book. My husband hated it because I didn't put it down for 3 days! Dixie wore believable characters from a small town in Texas. Who cares how little the town is, all the characters left you wanting to know more about them. Dixie just scratched the surface of Maudean's story. The possibilities are endless! C.J. is a great character and her adventures leave you with "Huh?, I can't believe she did that." I could read about Edwina all day. But what made the book soar was the chemistry of between Debbie Sue and Edwina . Great job. It was worth my husband getting mad at me!

Great title. I expected a humorously written book; but that was not so. Also, the title had absolutely nothing to do with the storyline. The mystery was disappointing. There was the usual scenario of two men being interested in the main character. I almost did not finish this, and I would certainly not buy another one by this author.
These two sisters write wonderful books, that I wish they would write more of. You laugh and and write to see what the crazy ladies at the beauty salon get into next.
Debbie Sue owns the beauty salon in her little town. The Sheriff, Buddy, is her ex-husband who still likes her, but s dating a school teacher. Debbie decides she would solve the murder of a rich man's wife for the reward or solve the murder so she can pay off her debt. Debbie Sue is in love with Buddy, but may leave with another man because he is still dating someone else. This is a humorous mystery with lots of suspects, laughs, and twists and turns.
What a great story! The characters are hugely entertaining, from the hero and heroine, the Maudeen, who can't buy cocaine on her senior citizen fixed income. The story is a mixture of romance and mystery and the final result solves the mystery and has a good ending for our couple. Great read.
A hilariously funny story that will have you shaking your head. Small town gossip is at it's funniest with Debbie Sue Overstreet and her fellow beautician, Edwina. From the rodeo horse called rocket man to the gas station pumps, this story will not only keep you entertained, but keep you laughing as well.
While Debbie Sue and Edwina try to solve the murder of one Saltlick's resident. The residents don't disappoint with their humor, gossip and opinions. We mustn't forget the dry wit. I flew through the story not wanting to put it down. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys humor, wit, and the unexpected.

Occasionally you might get a good laugh in a book BUT 3 times I laughed so hard that I could barely breathe! I never expected such real humor.
I usually read technical books or reread classics, so I just wanted a bit of fluff. Wow! I got one of the top 3 funniest books that I have ever read. (I read about 2 books a week). I was so happy that I went to bed and slept like a baby.
I won't spoil this evaluation by giving away the funny parts....but look for the zipper part.
Rollicking romance. Easy to follow storyline with believable characters. The dialogue is humorous, emotional and snarky.

Character flaws
“Don’t forget, I knew his daddy. I would hate to see my only little girl involved with a Matthews.”
"Mom, he’s filthy rich. Can’t you overlook a few character flaws?”

Opportunity
“You’ve never heard the old saying, ‘All’s fair in love and war’?” Maybe that’s what this Kathy person is thinking. Maybe she’ll say and do anything to get the man she wants. I’d drive a tractor over one of my kin if—well, that’s not a good example. I’d drive a tractor over most of my kin just because I had the opportunity.”

I may re-read this story and look forward to other works by this author.
