If you read Billionaire Unbound, you know Gabe and Chloe's story left off with Ellie being kidnapped by James, Chloe's evil ex-fiancé. When cornered, James killed himself leaving a note that he was responsible for Ellie's months long kidnapping and that she would die never having been found. Chloe's brother, Zane Colter, is a scientist and was working on trying to follow clues to find Chloe's best friend, Ellie. He found dirt in James tires to give him a location idea and a key to where she was held. He left to search for her at the end of that book without talking to the police, afraid they would move too slow to save her life now that she wasn't being provided food, water, heat or basic needs.

Billionaire Undaunted picks up where that story left off. Zane does find Ellie still alive, if severely abused physically and mentally for seven months. Ellie is a strong and intelligent woman from a poor family. She is determined not to let James' abuse define her life as she deals with all she went through at his hands. Zane is a somewhat geeky and socially regressed scientist who has had feelings for Ellie for a long time. He sets himself up to be her protector and defender as she recovers. He is determined to make sure she has everything she might need to heal physically and emotionally.

They both grow and develop in this book, as individuals overcoming personal challenges and as a couple. Their love story, as you might guess, is a little unique and bumpy, but still sweet. It still reaches some steamy moments and a satisfying conclusion for their happy ever after. I'm sure you will enjoy reading their journey and I don't want to give away any spoilers.

This book could be read as a stand alone, the previous book's needed facts are included. It is fun to read it knowing all the background story, so I would suggest reading all of the series, or at least the Colter family books. You will see couples we've met before as well as meeting some new faces who will star in future stories.

J.S. Scott is one of my favorite authors and this book is another example of why. When series go longer than about 5 books, I tend to worry about getting a story repeated with different names. Well, that is definitely NOT the case with this series. J.S. Scott has a ton of new plot ideas, but still brings back favorite characters from previous books. Ellie and Zane's story starts part way into the last book, but a reader does not have to read Chloe's story in order to enjoy this book. What I loved about this book was how natural the encounter was between Ellie and Zane. Things weren't perfect after Ellie was rescued and it took her time to heal. I feel this story happened in a realistic enough time frame and found myself drawn into the story from the beginning. I read this book in one sitting and couldn't put it down. I definitely give it a solid 5 star review and can't wait for more from J.S. Scott and the Billionaire's Obsession series.

Not willing to believe Ellie is gone Zane keeps looking at remote camp, cabins and homes. He finds Ellis ( 7 months later) shackled by heavy metal in a bedroom, she is bone thin, filthy and unconscious. He takes her to a hospital to get the medical help she needs, her recovery is slow she was so weak . Zane takes her home from the hospital to recovery at his home. Zane is protective, loving and obsessed with Ellie. Ellis always had a crush on Chloe's brother but now he is her hero. They fall in love and Zane gives Ellis everything she never had in her life, security, wealth and unconditional love. It's a story of the hell that individuals go through who have been physically abused or kidnapped very realistic.

True confession I have a major crush on gorgeous billionaire Zane Colter! Seriously this hunkalicious genius scientist with the heart of pure gold can swoop to my rescue anytime!

And that is EXACTLY what he does with his younger sister Chloe’s best friend, Ellie Winters. He has had a thing for her since he was in high school but she was too young, too off limits for anything other than friendship. But when she stumbles upon incriminating evidence against her boss, James (who also happens to be her best friend’s deranged ex) he kidnaps her, tortures her and leaves her for dead before offing himself. The book opens seven months later, and all of her grief-stricken family and friends have given up on finding her alive. Everyone that is except Zane. He never quit on her. Not for one single second.

Picking up where the previous book, BILLIONAIRE UNBOUND, leaves off, this story opens with the scientist tycoon following a sequence of forensic evidence and finally tracking Ellie down in a deserted mountain cabin, in the midst of a raging blizzard. But the sight before him nearly brings him to his knees. The naked, filthy, helpless victim who’s curled up in a fetal position, shackled to a wall, nearly starved to death, resembles nothing of the sweet, curvaceous, vibrant girl he secretly covets. All his fierce protective instincts rise to the surface and he frantically releases her from her imprisoning binds, then scoops her up into his strong, sheltering arms, vowing not only to see her through the most harrowing ordeal of her life, but to grant every wish she’s ever had, make her smile again, help her heal, body and soul!

Ahhhh!!!! The feels! The passion! The aching tenderness! This book has it all!! This intensely emotional love story captivated my heart from start to finish. It made me sigh. Swoon. Shed tears of heartbreak and joy. And filled me with such breathless pleasure I could hardly contain myself. I love every book I have read in the Billionaire Obsession series, but J.S. Scott truly astounds with BILLIONAIRE UNDAUNTED. When I first read the blurb for this book, I was a bit concerned whether it would be a bit of a downer, but this mega talented author truly did this story justice and did not sugar coat the tougher moments either. I appreciated the author’s sensitive depiction here of showcasing Ellie’s recovery in real time throughout. It was a slow, often painstaking journey that Ellie underwent as she evolved from traumatized victim to a whole, vibrant woman again. There were no easy fixes here. She was treated in the hospital, got intensive therapy, had her good days and bad. But the hero was there every step of the way. To soothe her. Shelter her. Nurture and care for her. And kiss her breathless until her toes curled!

What I truly relished about this romance, aside from the sensitive depiction of a kidnap victim’s slow path to recovery, was that at its core this was a love story about two social misfits who embrace love against unspeakable odds. And of course one of the big draws is the hero!! Geek is totally swoony these days, and Zane is such a unique billionaire! I truly adored him in all his big, brawny, sweetly awkward splendor! He is kind, handsome, fiercely protective and blunt to a fault, a bona fide genius who charms the reader in his own off kilter way! And did I mention hot? Broodingly sexy, mouthwateringly yummy, make my princess parts tingle hot!

As for Ellie, she is such a strong, courageous, resilient heroine! But she has to learn to lean on others—particularly the hero--to help her heal her emotional and physical scars incurred from her horrifying ordeal. And true to his word, Zane literally brings her back to life again. This couple is just magical, in large part because they are two square pegs who fit so perfectly together! The fact that Zane is not the life of the party and is socially award makes him that much more attractive to Ellie, and I also love how the heroine has her self-esteem issues to grapple with as well. But through the hero’s tireless support and devotion she not only gets physically stronger but learns to conquer her fears and ultimately thrive.

This couple truly shines because they embrace each other’s differences and accept one another for who they were…not who society expects them to be. I also enjoyed the slow, sweet burn between Zane and Ellie. They don’t immediately hop into bed, and when they finally do consummate their union, it is incredibly special and MEANS something! Their chemistry is an intoxicating blend of raw carnal possession and gentle tenderness. The intimacy of their primal connection is physically explosive and blissfully emotional and filled this reader’s heart with a plethora of breathless pleasure!

Throw the rowdy Colter clan—Blake, Marcus, Chloe, Tate-- and all their mates into the mix, and it injects a nice nose of heartwarming humor into the plot to balance out the angstier moments in the story. There is also a nice suspense thread throughout and a huge dramatic twist at the end that incites all the Colters and their significant others to band together in wildly unexpected ways!
